GOURMET: SPECIALITY AND FINE FOOD TRADE SHOW 2010
31 October to 2 November 2010
Gourmet Middle East is the largest speciality and fine food and beverage event in the Middle East. It evolved due to strong demand in other food sectors.
Catering to the exclusive food and hospitality sector and specialist buyers of premium produce across the Middle East, Gourmet Middle East will deliver a new event format. It provided qualified buyers with a taste and sampling environment commensurate with the quality of brands exhibited.
Who Attended?
Gold Coast City Council hosted a stand and four local gourmet and speciality businesses accompanied us to take advantage of the lucrative export opportunity that Dubai, being the hub of trade for Europe, Northern Africa, Northern China and the United Arab Emirates presents.
With targeted exhibitors and a targeted audience, although the Trade Show was in its infancy, our businesses achieved great results such as:
* Immediate order valued at $15,000 for one company;
* Another company has a $22,500 order due in December;
* Appointment of two new distributors for a third company, quoting one distributor for two containers of product for Copenhagen and Beirut. The value of the combined containers being approximately $300,000.
* Appointment of a new distributor for the UAE for another company with an order pending.
Comments from the companies who attended Gourmet 2010 included:
“Busier than expected, should see results. Distributor appointed with potential first sale of $22,00.”
“As a first-up expo – very good – quality not quantity. Confirmed sale of $15,000.”
“Not as busy or intense as Gulfood but coming here has reconfirmed our support for this area. Have signed new distributor and quoting on some of our speciality lines for 4 others. Council very helpful and was a fantastic support.”
“Slow start, however strong result toward the end of show. Quoting on 2 containers value at $150,000 each. Appointed distributor for Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Strong leads for Brazil also.”
