Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) under the spotlight

Employers often report difficulties in recruiting STEM qualified staff and some perceive there to be a shortage in STEM skills. An analysis of skills and training needs in STEM across the Gold Coast was commissioned by state government in conjunction with Gold Coast City Council to identify gaps and opportunities to address these issues.

The analysis aimed to examine the extent to which the perceived shortage relates to STEM skills generally or specific subjects within STEM, and whether employers’ needs are being met by STEM qualified staff.

The following report contains the findings of the analysis taken  from a sample of STEM based businesses across the Gold Coast and recommendations to address their needs and demands.
